To have fun while reviewing the unit on family while also reviewing parts of the body and learning about the season, autumn
Time
45 minutes
Materials
1 sheet of white paper
4 or more autumn leaves
Pencil
Rubber
Crayons (assorted colors)
Markers (assorted colors)
Glue Stick
White Out
Vocabulary Used
Colors
- red, yellow, green, orange, brown, white, etc
Classroom Objects
- Paper, Rubber, Crayons, Markers, Pencil, Glue Stick
Classroom Instructions
- Trace, erase, draw, write, color
Family
- Mother, father, brother, sister, baby, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, cousin
Body Parts
- Face, head, body, eyes, nose, mouth, legs, feet, tail
Sizes
- Bigger, big, biggest, medium, small, smaller, smallest
Instructions
- Show your class the completed poster for an example
- Describe your leaf family to the class
- Ask the class about the different members of the family
- Write the different family members on the board
- Take the children to the patio to collect leaves of various sizes or have leaves ready to distribute
- Give each student a sheet of white paper
- Have them write the title, ¨Leaf Family¨at the top
- Glue the leaves on the paper
- Ask the class about the different body parts of animals using your poster as an example
- Have them decorate the leaves to look like animals
- You and the other teacher can add the eyes for the animals using White Out
- Tell them to write the names of the family members next to the coresponding animal
- While my students completed their posters I played Fall songs in the background
- If their is time left in the class the children can present their posters
